External monitor with 15" iBook -- how?

Hi

How do I get my iBook to work with an external monitor?

I have got the adaptor lead from Apple and when I boot I get the boot
options on both monitors and then after that I just get the output on
the laptop screen.

How do I get the output onto the external monitor?

Sorry if this is a daft question but I haven't found an easy answer on
Google and I need an answer today because I'm supposed to be doing a
presentation tomorrow!
