PowerMac G4 Silver + Formac Display questions

Hi!

I recently bought a PowerMac G4 Silver with a ATI Radeon card and a Formac 
Gallery 1740 17" TFT display. The display is connected to the digital output 
of the ATI card. In principle Linux (a mixture of Yellowdog 2.3 and a few 
LinuxPPC2000/Halloween rpm's, with XFree 4.2.0 and Ben's 2.4.20-pre4-ben0 
kernel) works fine, but I have a few questions regarding the display:

(1) in text mode, I see only a 80x25 character screen centered in the middle 
of the display, where it occupies about 1/4 of the screen. Are there any 
kernel parameters to enlarge this? I also recognised that the output is 
flickering a little bit which seems to be strange with a *digitally* 
connected TFT. Any ideas?

(2) in principle, X11 runs in 1280x1024 mode, but apparently I did not find 
the right modelines yet (strange again). Running Xconfigurator, I get:

- using a 1280x1024 monitor @ 60 Hz, X11 looks fine with 16 and 24 bits 
depth, but the visible part of the display is only ~960 pixels high, leaving 
a black border at the top and the bottom. Moving the mouse scrolls like with 
a higher virtual resolution;

- using 1280x1024 @ 85 Hz and 16 bits gives a completely "noisy" display 
(especially with the default X11 background).

- using 1280x1024 @ 85 Hz and 24 bits looks almost fine, but there are some 
"artefacts" like very bright and sometimes flickering pixels at window 
borders and in some gnome icons.

Needless to say that the display *does* work nicely with MacOS X... Does 
anybody have a working modeline for this combination?

(3) When starting X, it complains about missing symbols like "Symbol 
drmUnmap from /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.o is unresolved. Any 
idea?
