I think the format you need to use is:
mount -t hfsplus /dev/hdd9 /mnt/macos

I don't think hfs+ is a recognized filetype.

I'm running now 2.4.22-2g and get still the "this file format is not
suppurted by the kernel" messages. Why???

# mount /dev/hdd9 /mnt/macos -thfs+
