12/2 G5 install disks -- kernel panic on boot

Ian,
Are you installing with 'install-safe'? I've never tried just
'install'. I've also done
the 'install-safe mediacheck' just to check to see if the ISO's
downloaded correctly.
BTW, I used safari on the same mac under 10.3 to do the downloading.
