12/2 G5 install disks -- kernel panic on boot

I tried resetting nvram, and it didn't help -- the kernel is still panicing
at boot, immediately on load.

That said, I'm wondering if the ISO might have been corrupted on download.
I'm trying downloading it again (this time with WGET, which does a better
job of distinguishing binary files than ftp) and I'm going to try again...

Any other thoughts?  Anyone?  Bueller?
