YDL 3.0 not even seeing my firewire drive

Well, that did it.  Hmm...  According to the docs, if the device is 
attached when the module is loaded, rescanning shouldn't make a 
difference.  However, it did and I can mount and read the disk (kinda, 
it's an HFS+ partition).  I guess I have a starting point for tomorrow 
then!
