G4 400mhz and DHCP

I can not ping myself, the router or any other machines on the network. 
All return Destination Host Unreachable.

/sbin/ifconfig gives
eth0	Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr:...
	inet addr: 192.168.0.4 Bcast: 192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
	UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 METRIC:1
