KDE 3.0 slows down USB mouse

I might add that the USB mouse has gone slow from start. 
It is equally slow in all window managers so I can't blame KDE.

Also - I downloaded the
extra packages for the new iBook and installed them.

Most irritating is that it works perfectly in MacOSX but not i Linux.

The system is a dual boot system. I keep MacOSX - at least until Linux
works well.
