KDE 3.0 slows down USB mouse

Hi,
I have just successfully installed yellowdog linux on my new iBook, the l=
atest=20
800Mhz, 14.1" display. There is, however, a funny effect when running KDE=
=2E

The USB mouse (Targus optical, cordless mini-mouse) works perfectly under=
=20
MacOSX and before loading KDE, but it gets really funny in KDE (haven' t=20
tried the other window managers yet). It gets irritatingly slow and jitte=
ry -=20
jumps here and there and I have to drag the mouse very slowly in order to=
 get=20
it right. Is there a remedy?
