7200/75 install -- which YDL?

My father just gave me back a 7200/75 that he borrowed from me about 7 
years ago, and I want to put YDL on it to run a web/mail server, and 
maybe a jukebox like some others on this list. My question is: which 
YDL release is going to be my best bet on the older hardware.  I have 
2.1 and 2.2 packs that were running on my B&W G3 before I sold it, and 
I am certainly willing to purchase 2.3, for the good of the order, if 
for no other reason.  My preference is to be current, but how well does 
2.3 work with older hardware?
