I use mplayer/gmplayer to play mpegs, dvds, mp3s. I installed it with 
'yum'.

$ sudo yum install mplayer

I think you may need to add freshrpms to /etc/yum.conf to find the 
package. I've heard good things about 'xine' as well. It's also 
installable with yum.
