Cannot do Gimp Save As JPG on YDL 3.0 and Gimp 1.2.3

I installed YDL 3.0 but did not install GIMP. Later I used RPM to =
install GIMP version 1.2.3. It appears to have installed correctly, but =
when I go to do a Save As...
and then select JPG, JPG is grayed out (not available).

I did the same thing on YDL 2.3 (cannot remember which version of GIMP =
this was, and I used the graphical RPM tool that used to be included) =
and didn't have to do anything special -- I could do a save as JPG.

Did I do something wrong this time?
