Which .config to make new kernel?

if you have a single processor Apple type machine use 
kernel-2.4.20-ppc.config.  Use  kernel-2.4.20-ppc-smp.config if you 
have dual (or more?) processors in your machine.  (briq is for a 
special hardware configuration TerraSoft sells.  BOOT is for the 
installer (I think).  I don't know what ans is for)
