Problems after installing YellowDog 3.0

Hi all,
I installed YellowDog 3.0 on my PowerBook 550MHz, and first of all it 
looks fantastic - very exciting.

I seem to have a strange problem post install however. I have been 
trying to remove some rpms to free up some disk space.

I start removing some rpms and then rpm simply seems to stop doing 
anything and hangs for a while. Running the command via strace shows 
some selects looping forever. /var/log/messages doesn't shed any light.

I have tried reinstalling a few times but have the same results every 
time. Any suggestions?
