/etc/fstab & booting failure

hi all,
i'm a Linux newbie, just succesfully installed YDL 3.0 today, problem occured during booting, it showed '/etc/fstab    [FAILURE]', suppose to be '/etc/fstab    [OK]', right? i thought it didn't matter, but when i tried to get into X Windows by typing 'startx', it failed to boot, followed by some statements (i forgot to copy it down, because it's too many). tried to type 'xautoconfig', but it didn't work. any suggestion?
