Sound on a 6500?

I have installed YDL 3 on a 6500, but have no sound. Redhat-config-soundcard
finds no sound card. Is there another way to install the sound card?

I also tried installing ALSA. The drivers won't compile because the
OSS scheduler was missing from the kernel. I'm recompiling the kernel to
include OSS and then compile ALSA, but is there any easier way?
