Hi Andreas

trying to access /mnt/macos as user (not sudoed) I see what you mean:

> [thk@localhost thk]$ ls /mnt/macos/
> ls: /mnt/macos/Desktop DB: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/Desktop DF: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/Desktop Folder: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/Icon:0d: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/Linux Kernels: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/ramdisk-3.0.image.gz: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/README: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/System Folder: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/TheVolumeSettingsFolder: Permission denied
> ls: /mnt/macos/Trash: Permission denied
> [thk@localhost thk]$
>

Adding your username to the sudoers file may solve it. By default the user is not member of sudoers.

Will compare this issue in GNOME now.
