One last log to throw on your fire: A long time ago, I was playing
with some Motorola VME
boards running OpenBSD booted from a PC running FreeBSD. Thinking that
I would save time,
I created the filesystems on the PC (UFS) but found they weren't usable
with the VME processor.
The difference seemed to be that UFS wasn't the same on a big-endian
versus a little-endian
system.
