Hi y'all

Well, I'm struggling here! Some kind of problem with a standard or
custom install of YDL 3.0.1 and I definitely need some kind of help.

The GUI installer runs perfectly (apparently!) and installs a
workstation config with a few admin bits and pieces. It detects the
monitor and graphics card as expected. I do not make any changes.

However, I cannot get XWindows to start. I have commandline/terminal
window access, which works as I would expect, but I'm a bit of a
numpty and don't want to break anything. I've had about 20 goes now.

It is a 'virgin install' on a new 120GB HD.

My machine config is:
B/W G3/300 512 RAM
Radeon 7000 PCI Video card
LaCie Photon20vision monitor
Twin HD 80GB for Mac OS, 120 GB for YDL

Mac OSX Panther on /dev/hdb12
OS9.2.x on /dev/hdb10

Installing YDL onto /dev/hda3
YDL swap on /dev/hda4

Complete /dev/hda drive partioned automatically with YDL. Mac booting
works perfectly.

I have tried to start the redhat-config-XFree86 software, but it is
unable to start the Xserver.
Is there any way to sort this out that anyone can help me with.

I have just got the following message (as root)
"/usr/share/redhat-config-xfree86/redhat-config-xfree86: line2:
1361 Illegal instruction python2.2
/usr/share/redhat-config-xfree86/xconf.py $@"
(all on one line!)

If anyone can help (I've tried apt-get, but nothing changed as I
believe my version is the current version anyway!)

I'm not scared of the commandline, I just don't know what I'm doing!

Perhaps a 2.x version of YDL would work, which I could then upgrade to 3.0.1?

Any help greatly appreciated.

TIA
