Fan control in 4.0rc1 boot kernel

I would be more helpful if we knew what your machine was ;)

If it shut down your machine then you probably don't want to try one 
without fan control, as it should only shut down your machine if it is 
too hot.  Without fan control your fans either run at 100% or not at 
all (100% is LOUD on most machines, and none at all is scary).
