Fan control in 4.0rc1 boot kernel

The machine is a G5 SMP 2 GHz 8 Gig memory 360 Gig disk.
It is running under Gentoo 32 bit without fan control just fine.
Clearly there is something in my G5 that therm-pm72 doesn't take into 
account.
