Hi

The sound issue has been discussed on this list. You are not alone with this problem - as far as I can tell. Try to use a non-KDE-App such as xmms to play a sound file. I believe you have to use the OSS Sound Plug-in (check the preferences).
If it still won't work check if the sound module (driver) is loaded (I think it is called "dmasound" or something like this) with "lsmod".

I am using Fedora Core (Rawhide [development]) ant the KDE gives me the same error message. However xmms plays sound really nice.
The YDL-people will prob. Launch an kde update soon!?

Krischan

Betreff: Sound in YDL 4.0

Hi !

May be I'm wrong and everything O'k. No one answer.
And only I have trouble with sound in YDL 4.0 aftert installation on my G4 Titanium 800 MHz Radeom Mobility 7500. Sleep and wake up working. CPU frecuency work after install CPUFRECD. Grafik card work 1280x854 in Million Colors. MOL start only OS X 10.3.6, but have some problem with Classic OS 9.2.2 ( don't start ).

In YDL 3.0.1 Everything Work Without problem.

My question:
What shell I do to resolve situation with sound in KDE. After STARTX command I receive message:

Sound server information message:
Error: while initializing the sound driver SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT failed - invalid argument The sound server will continue, using the null output device

Best regards
Serguei
