Ydl 3.0

Hi everyone!
I know this is a stupid question to ask,but since I cannot get Ydl 4.0 
to run On my 8600,I am using ydl 3.0.
What I want to know is will ydl start slowing down after it gets so 
old,I mean I am not planning on buying a new Mac for awhile,and all I 
really do is surf the web and email.I am planning on using this old 
computer until it finally dies.
Will Ydl 3.0 be up to the task?
