YDL 4 post-install lockup on PB g4

I've got a titanium PB g4 500, and the ydl 4 install on a new hard drive
consistently locks up in the post-install stage.

Console 3 has a last line of 'going to mount /usbfs on
/mnt/sysimage/proc/bus/usb'.

I've tried auto-partition, manual partitioning with
desktop/workstation/custom+minimal packages.

I tried mounting a spare partition and running 'ps -ef' in while loop, logging
to the spare partition. The last ps entry show XFree86, kudzu and modprobe
(with varying modules).

Owen, in the yellowdog linux irc channel said it sounded familair, and he
thought there was a workaround, but couldn't find it in his logs. Anyone else
seen this, and know of a workaround?

YDL 3 installs just fine...
