Prefered Applications loses preference

I made a custom script that opens a new window in Firefox based on if it
was given an argument (which would be a URL) or not, and also if Firefox
is currently running.  I'm trying to set this under YDL Menu >
Preferences > Preferred Applications, but when I go to click on a link
in Evolution, it deselected the command I gave it, and puts dashes in
both radio buttons.  Any ideas?  I think giving the preference file
read-only permissions would do it, but where is it?
