Not sure if this implies Linux didn't work on the G5 iMac at all until
now, or just works better now

I also know there were some issues with cooling on G5 Towers fixed in
a recent kernel, might have been 2.6.9 - YDL uses 2.6.8. You might
have to wait for 4.01 to boot on iMac.
