I find that sometimes I must reconfigure ADSL
completely to restart "ifup ppp0". Thus:

[clint]$ su -
[root]# /sbin/adsl-setup
# Answer all the questions asked by adsl-setup #
...
[root]$ /sbin/ifup ppp0
[root]# /sbin/adsl-status

... and this should have you back online until the
next mishap.

Sometimes, when the above does not work, a restart
(not just a logout and login) is required to bring
back my DSL -- I have no idea why.
