adsl internet

HI,
Thanks for the advice, the thing is I have already installed ppoe
client(just didn't chose  to be connected on boot) and when I  activate ADSL
network device it only stays active for  few seconds and then becomes
inactive again I have no idea why? By the way the  when I  activate Ethernet
link device I get a message saying " Determining IP information for ech0
...failed; no link present. check cable", but the cable is in working
order( I checked that and in device hardware configuration it says that
Ethernet status is ok) and it's always connected to Ethernet port . What
else I could try to make it working?
Any help would be appreciate. Please not hesitate try.
