Dual monitors and Xinerama

	I have been trying to get dual monitors working following the 
directions of Dennis Baker 
(http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Xinerama-HOWTO/). Running X -configure 
from the console produces an 'XF86Config.new' file that looks very 
reasonable.  The two monitor cards (Rage 128 and Radeon 7000) are 
correctly recognized and the file fairly closely resembles the one 
shown at the end of Baker's article.  But using the new file as 
XF86Config results in a second monitor with wide vertical stripes and 
nothing else.

	Any tips, suggestions or speculation would be very welcome.
