autom4te (autoconf-2.57-3) broken?

After sleeping on it and coming back to the problem fresh, I've
discovered that the problem I've run into above is due to file
system corruption.  The IO perl module directory is completely
hosed (along with god only knows what else)

Oh well, I've been needing an excuse to repartition that drive
anyway.  A fresh install should take care of things.
