apt-get size mismatch: apt/3.0/ base/release incorrect?

I saw in the archives that a couple of other people had this problem
earlier this month, but didn't see any resolution to it--when I run
apt-get upgrade (on a YDL more-or-less 3.0 system), I get the
following set of messages:

Get:1 ftp://distro.ibiblio.org apt/3.0/update pkglist [228kB]
Get:2 ftp://distro.ibiblio.org apt/3.0/update release [125B]
Get:3 ftp://distro.ibiblio.org apt/3.0/update srclist [17.7kB]

I am not by any means an expert in how apt works on the server side,
but it seems to me that this is a mismatch between the size reported
for pkglist.update and srclist.update in the "release" file (1951561
bytes and 69940 bytes, respectively) and the actual size of the files
in question (rather larger). Which, since "pkglist.update" was last
updated some three months later than "release" (04-Dec-2003 vs
18-Dec-2003), seems not implausible. Can anybody tell me if this is
a correct diagnosis of the situation, and if so what (if anything) I
should do about it?

Thanks,

	Ben Warfield.
