can't boot with usb/firewire card

   I've got a beige G3 that I've been triple booting
YDL, OSX and OS9 on for quite a while.  A while back I
bought a iogear GUF3121 usb/firewire card.  It works
with OSX but YDL won't finish booting with it
installed.  Failure point is variable.  Sometimes it
makes it to init, sometimes not.  I don't have the
first clue as to go about figuring out what is wrong
or how to fix it.  Halp
