yaboot boots os x, not linux, b&w g3

Ok, I'm a little slow. Just noticed that your PCI ATA add-on card is an
Ultra-Tek100P. I have the same card, and it gave me no end of grief on
my B&W. I eventually updated the firmware on that card and made it
completely unusable on the B&W - for the Mac OS or Linux (I eventually
just put it in my 7500 and it works fine there). So, in essence, you may
be looking at a hardware problem.
 From your 'devalias' it looks as tho you're running a rev2 B&W that has
the internal ATA bus (as opposed to the Ultra Wide SCSI bus).
If the ATA card *is* your problem, you *should* be able to set up the
drives on the internal ATA bus with no issue.

Here are a few links that I found helpful when I first got 3.0.1 on my B&W:
<http://web.archive.org/web/20010605042059/http://linuxppc.org/hardware/blueg3/>
<http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/> - Very good site for hardware issues
<http://www.justlinux.com/nhf/Hardware/Getting_Your_ATI_Rage_128_Card_Working.html>

If it's any consolation, you've inspired me to quit waiting for YDL4 and
re-download and re-install 3.0.1. I hope some of this helps, and keep us
posted on your progress. The B&W G3 was the first NewWorld DT machine
and is kinda quirky in a lot of ways. All this may make it's way to the
FAQ.
