Without any ectra programs (e.g. DAVE), MacOS 9 only talks to appletalk file
serfers. Fortunately there is a very nice implementation called NetAltalk.

NetAtalk is one way however, it allows MacOS systems to use Linux systems
as a file/print server, but does not go the other way. I.E. you can't
print on a printer on a MacOS only Mac, or use the MacOS system as 
a file server.
