[OT] YDL 4.0

I agree with you, Walt. Same thing I always wonder at. Why spend all
that precious time chasing after the latest, fastest, newest, greatest
software/hardware. If computers were used for what they were meant to
be, ie tools, not just collectible items, we would be spending more
time doing better things, creating, improving ourselves and those we
care about.
On the positive side of things, I see that many of us here in the list
and, thanks to Linux for PPC (distros aside), use "old" Macs, that
otherwise would be just expensive landfill.
If we were doing what Apple expects from its customers, rushing to the
AppleStore every time they come out with new "insanely great" hardware
(every 6 months or so), we would be like everybody else out there in
the crowd.
Fortunately, somebody has his feet on the ground!

Changing topics. I was about to buy this new Dual PowerMac G5, but I
heard that I will have to wait till early 2005 to get "Tiger" and the
30-inch flat monitor.I guess I'll have to settle for the 23-inch in the
meantime. But I'm planning to buy a tent to camp outside the
AppleStore. The moment they announce "Tiger" and the 30-inch in
macrumors.com, I'll be the first in the line. Oh my, I can't hardly
wait! :-)
