Actually, rpm -U or rpm -F would be better in this case.
- U is "Upgrade" : Install if not already installed, or upgrade
- F is "Freshen" : Only upgrade if already installed

As a thumb rule, -i almost never needs to be used, only to install another
non-conflicting instance of the same package (very rare, think kernel
modules mainly), -U should be used instead, and when it's for a bunch of
files in a directory for which one only wants to upgrade the already
installed ones, -F is the time saving answer.
