xsane is still 'working' but can't seam to see the scanner anymore. This
happened before yum update too. Reseting the scanner was enough to
resolve this but not anymore. Thanks for pointing it out. I really dont
use much that scanner so I had no clue it was not working anymore.

Im trying to find a way out of this problem. Dependencies got the hell
out of me. Flame me as much as you like about what I will post. If it
look like spam: I dont care. If this is not appropriate: too bad. I want
to share my discoveries.. what I just see is just too ridiculus....and
im polite, very polite!

Ok, to make a long story short (a short long, indeed), I've been trying
to have xsane work again. I checked out xsane website for an update and
learned I must also have xsane-devel package installed among several
other tidbits from xsane.README file found in xsane-0.94.tar.gz. 'yum
install xsane-devel' gave nothing. 'yum update xsane' is the latest
version. xsane was working before gimp-1.3, so I try to downgrade to
gimp-1.2x then brainstorm from there.... 'yum erase gimp' (I have only
gimp-1.3.20 from here) removed gimp-1.3.20-1.fr, gimp-perl 1.2.3-9,
sane-frontends-1.0.8-4 and gtkam-gimp-0.1.4-6. Look fine? then 'yum
install gimp' kindly asked my if installing gimp-1.2.3-9 is ok? I say
'yes' since this is exactly what I want to do then I got this:
'file /usr/share/man/man5/gimprc.5.gz from install of gimp-1.2.3-9
conflicts with file from package gimp-devel-1.3.20-1.fr'
I though removing *all* the gimp files would be the right thing to do,
then, re-install them one by one as needed? According to the 'I will do'
list yes its ok, then the dependencies scrambled... ooooh it need to
remove blasa, evolution, gnucash, gtkhtml, yaddayadda BECAUSE I WANT TO
ERASE GIMP????

Is this ok [y/N]: NO!

'rpm -q --nodeps gimp-devel' then 'yum install gimp' then 'yum install
*xsane*' then 'yum install *sane*' then 'yum install *gtkam* SEAM to
replace everything where it belong. sxane still refuse to see the
scanner.

This is how I wasted this rainy afternoon!
