GAIM issues

Has anyone gotten GAIM to send files properly?  I am currently using the
.76 off the FreshRPMS, and getting the Mandrake Cookers of the newest
versions are often a huge pain to get to work and they usually don't look
as pretty for whatever reason (if someone could explain to me why my fonts
are anti-aliased in the YDL rpm of firefox and not the "dag" version I'm
really curious).

I just can't seem to get the file transfer to work (over AIM not MSN or
anything else), and this is a pretty key feature.  I can do without smiley
faces.
