USB hard drive and CD-RW

This is what I get when I run /sbin/lsmod:

As for what is in /dev, I have hda1-hdt9 displayed and sda1-sdz9.  Yes and
when I try switching to sda1 it tells me that it is not a block device. 
When i list all, the only thing that shows is hda1 and my cdrom.
