Hey Greg,

Good question!  We don't offer RPM packages, as that would make Dan's
(and other YDL crew members') job less fun ;-)

Really, we're providing tarballs for anyone on modern PowerPC based
GNU/Linux distros that wants them.  Some of us don't run RPM based
systems such as YellowDog, so it would not be beneficial to even all of
*us*.  Besides, what we provide are more the cutting edge tarballs. 
When the software is well tested and stable enough for YellowDog, a
package will surely become available.
