If the drive is really frelled, and is an HFS volume (either OS 9 or OS 
X), your best bet might be to invest in one of the commercial drive 
utilities: DiskWarrior <http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/> is the first 
choice, though Norton Utilities for Macintosh 
<http://www.symantec.com/nu/nu_mac/> is more widely available.
