Tkinter python module

According to the Python website the Tkinter module is a standard module.
http://www.python.org/topics/tkinter/download.html

The module is present in the Python 2.2.2 binary installed with YDL >=  
3.0

Have you compiled a more recent version of Python and perhaps 
inadvertently buggered something up?
