ATI driver problem: addendum

Have you compiled XFree86 from source?  If not here's some light
reading :

http://www.xfree86.org/4.4.0/r128.4.html

By compiling xfree86 build 4.4.0 from source, you "should" be able to
get 3D acceleration.
