Hi, I got around to check this today, keep that machine at school,

It was a 9500/120 now a 9500/Sonnet G3 400

System 9.22 oldworld supported (http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/) as I
tried os X on it too, but don=B4t think that matters.

PowerLogix Cache controll 1.5 (and sonnet software removed)
This control pannel has a setting for configuring bootx cache, when clicked
the box for "use g3 cache" under options in bootx becomes activated.

Tested today with your naming of the exstensions 001.* etc and changed in
resedit the value of the G3/G4 cache controll exstension from INIT to scri

And it boots first the plogx then bootx starts and goes intoo linux.

I do however think this mainly affects the level 2 cache. As I have read
earlier on this list that the software does not change the actual hardware
speed - meaning if you have a g3/400 in the machine that=B9s your speed at
least with a standard install -no matter what the software reports (?). But
the difference once the cache is activated is noticable,,anyway good luck
