Can't install YDL 3.0 on a Nubus PowerPC 7100

Tobias,

Very few (if any -- I can't think of any offhand...) of the GNU/Linux
utilities or libraries are dependent on hardware features such as the
particular I/O bus your machine uses. Those details are (rightly)
handled in the kernel. So...

If you can find a kernel that will boot and run on your Nubus machine,
then the rest of Yellow Dog Linux should run fine. In particular, it
should make a very nice DNS server.

If all you want from MacOS is a boot-loader for Linux, you can download
MacOS 7.5.x for free from Apple. It's significantly less bloated than
any of the 8.x or 9.x versions. You should be able to get by with a
MacOS partition as small as 200 MB -- maybe even less than that. BootX
should work just fine with MacOS 7.x as a base.

Enjoy!

Rick
