At 08:32 PM 11/10/2004, Eric Dunbar, had this to say :

>I'd love to move the Beige G3 over to Ubuntu to see how it'd perform
>but unfortunately they don't have installs for OldWorld machines yet
>(I imagine that it's only time before they do since all you need is to
>get the kernel loaded by BootX, right?).

That is correct. BootX needs a ramdisk image file and a boot
kernel , so in reality it should be easy enough to do by simply copy over a
boot kernel and making a ramdisk image file for Ubuntu.

I had thought of installing Ubuntu but given that it can not use
existing package management files , that kind of puts me off. I don't mind
"rolling my own" (a.k.a. compiling from source) but to do it for everything
I want gets to be a lot of work. I much prefer yum!
