I'm still stalling after "Initializing firewire controller ... [OK]".
There is some disk activity for the first few seconds and then the fans
slowly ramp up into jetfighter mode.

After rebooting in single user mode, I did "/sbin/chkconfig --list"
which showed that kudzu was off on all levels.

The "Press I to enter interactive startup" appears to be a cruel hoax.
I've made multiple attempts to engage it assuming that it would inform
me before each step, so I could know which one was going haywire. Is
there some way to do a verbose startup?

I tried using both wired and wireless keyboards.

I vaguely recall selecting a G5 specific install when installing off
the CD's.
