install on 9600

Hi All,

Brand new to the list, I have several macs both are 9600's one with a 
G4700 and the other a stock 9600/300. Anyway, I am trying to install 
YDL 3.0 on my stock 9600. This computer is a 9600/300 with 160mb of ram 
(I know it's pretty low) an ATI Radeon 7000 with 64mb of ram, and the 
stock hard drive (4gb). The linux is installed on a 3.1gb partition. 
The installation process goes fine, with no problems. I choose the text 
boot so I could see what's happening. The machine goes fine into linux, 
I get to the prompt, log in no problems. I type startx, screen goes 
blank, nothing. I restart computer look at the instructions, it tells 
me to type xautoconfig. Then it mentions that I should be at a 
graphical screen. No such luck, it simply says wrote file and goes back 
to a prompt. I tried startx again, goes blank nothing. I let it sit for 
15 minutes, nothing.

Any ideas?
