YDL 4 on Pismo

Owen,
Right now I have a working X11 (copied a good XF86Config file over the
one generated by the installer) but networking is in a really funky
state. I know for sure the hardware is functional, as I am able to :
1. ssh into another machine on the subnet, either running OS X 10.3 or
Mandrake 10.1 (yes, it installs just fine on a G3/450 "Yosemite"; but
same network issues as YDL 4.0)
2. connect to Apache on the other machine, either running OS X 10.3 or
Mandrake 10.1
When I try to give a URL, it times out (can't resolve to an IP). When I
give an IP address resolved on the OS X (running on the same subnet)
the browser replies "connection refused"
This has me baffled. Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to sort it
out?
Output from "ifconfig eth1" (original Airport card) is:
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:E4:1E:AD:55
inet addr:10.0.0.133 Bcast:10.0.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

I also get these error messages at boot time (before the normal list of
stuff):
