Hmm -- there's a good chance that you don't have the exact libraries
required for the build to run properly (i.e. the long list of library
dependencies in the README file).  Some other people have had this
problem as well.  I'm not sure how common it is, or what packages to
suggest installing/upgrading.  If you're familiar with the 'strace'
program, you may be able to track down where the problem is occuring. 
I'm not sure generally what to suggest.  Anyone else have some tips or
ideas for resolving this?
